How I Live Now

Digital Nomad
Looking fierce on my 125cc motorbike.

In February of 2014, I took a big step. I resigned from my software engineering job in Seattle. I put my house up for sale. Sold my car. Gave away, sold, or discarded all of my possessions except what I could carry with me. And I’ve been traveling the world ever since. So far I’ve spent most of my time in Asia but have also traveled throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand. In the past year, I’ve studied Japanese at a language school in Tokyo; cycled my way across the the south island of New Zealand and the island of Tazmania in Australia; spent the day at an elephant farm in Chiang Mai, Thailand; and enjoyed a ton of delicious street food in Saigon.

Digital Nomad Lifestyle

I consider myself a digital nomad, working on various freelance and personal projects while traveling. Since all I need is my laptop and an internet connection, I can work from anywhere in the world. It’s a growing trend I’m excited to be a part of. It’s not without its challenges but I have no regrets — it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

I’ve been using this space to share images, experiences and thoughts of my travels. I update the map on the homepage with my current location for all those who may be interested. I hope you like what you see and please feel free to comment!

  1. Hay, Bill — Just checking to see if your contact thingy works for me. I have spent HOURS trying to make mine work on my site… to no avail. So far. NOT giving up 🙂

Hope you’re having fun out there and learning lots of family history stuff.
